Leaders and cells multiplication.

The usual form of cell multiplication in Elim is of mother to daughter. From a mature cell (mother) there is a multiplication to make way for a new cell (daughter) with a new leader and part of the mother’s cell core.

Our norm is that every leader must have under his responsibility, one single cell and each cell must recognize their respective leader. From that premise, any new cell can come to exist without having a designated leader. For this reason, our emphasis is on leader’s multiplication rather than on cell multiplication. Our focus is on the multiplication of leaders, the cell multiplication will be added unto you.

Other ministries have expressed this thought as follows: the cells do not multiply; the leaders are who multiply. This way of saying is very absolutist. However, it conveys a truth. It is the truth of the importance that leaders multiplication has, for the cells to multiply as well.

These are the same reasons why in our statistical controls the number of cells is not registered anywhere. It counts the number of leaders only. Other information we collect are attendance, conversions, and baptisms in water.

The Leaders Route is fundamental to the multiplication of leaders and the mentors work is vital to consolidate Christians as new leaders. These are the keys to cell multiplication.

Cell multiplication and the Great Commission.

Jesus handed in his church the Great Commission to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. Since then, the church of all times has sought to bring the good news of salvation to all places.

Evangelization through home cells is a strategy for fulfilling the Great Commission. Consequently, the cell work seeks to be expansive. Multiplication is the key to evangelistic penetration in the communities.

Today, almost half of the world’s population lives in large cities. And that's a trend that continues to grow. The church has in the cell work an excellent penetration tool for large cities. But the strategy will be of penetration only when multiplication becomes the goal of every cell. If the cell is enclosed in itself for fellowship or discipleship only, it will lose its penetration and expansion power. The cell will lose vitality because it will forget the lost world while dealing with the interests of those who are already Christians.

But if the cell maintains the multiplication as its goal, it will remain open to receive those in need and it will go from house to house until it significantly succeeds in permeating the cities with the gospel. The cells must be multiplied because we have a Great Commission that still remains as a pending task.

Evangelism as a lifestyle.
In a cell church that has reached maturity, the story of a person who becomes a convert will go in the following way: the person is invited to attend a cell. The message of the Gospel is presented to the person there. This person will most likely end up believing after two or three weeks.
Once he’s made his profession of faith, he will begin to attend the Leader’s Route once a week. Meanwhile, he will continue to gather in the cell and in the celebration service. Around him all the atmosphere is of evangelizing action. The person himself joins up with others who already share his faith as part of their Christian life.
For this person to present to others the gospel becomes something very natural. He will soon be talking to his family, friends and neighbors about Jesus. He will gain experience in the evangelization. He´ll learn by doing. Has not received much training in the theoretical field but in the practical field evangelism has been the environment that saw his birth and growth. Is what he has seen other Christians do.
In one word, evangelism becomes a way of life. It is not seen as an activity to which he devotes some time on a casual basis, but it is part of an everyday life. This is, more or less, what should happen with every Christian in a cell church.

That difference of 8 years between the two elements clearly showed the effect of each one. The growth provided by these two evangelization tools was comparable. Since then, we use the media as another way of proclaiming the gospel in a cell church.

Cells and evangelization.
When the early church met in houses it won the favor of the people and every day new believers were added (Acts 2:47). The presence of the believers’ community by the houses was a deciding element for the expansion of the gospel. Obviously, the church did not begin to meet to evangelize as a purpose. They did it following their cultural tradition. But the result was a powerful evangelist effect.
However, evangelism is not the only component of the cells. There is also the component of fellowship and edification. The balance between the three elements can only be giving by Jesus as the center of the cell. No cell can be healthy if it doesn’t have the evangelist element.
If the church in China now grows more than any other on the planet, is because their meetings are held in small groups in houses. It is a penetration that no one can stop. There for, evangelism is a key element of the cell work.
We, with awareness of it all, must not hesitate to imprint into the cell its evangelist character and must not forget that the multiplication is the goal to be pursued always. The relation between evangelism and cell work is a combination that has proven its effectiveness throughout history.

Winning people with actions.

For evangelism to be effective in the cell, emphasis must be placed on facts rather than in words. It is known that people react more to the works of Christians rather than to their words. For that reason, at Elim Church, our leaders have been trained to evangelize using the following five steps:
1. Make a list of family and friends (oikos).
2. Choose from this list two people to start praying for their conversion every day.
3. Strengthened ties of friendship with those two people, serve them and introduce them to other Christians.
4. Do works of love and concern for them.
5. Invite them to the cell.
As it can be noticed, the invitation to the cell is the final step. Before this, it is necessary to define the circle of influence and to make a systematic effort of prayer and works of love for these people. When a Christian has dedicated himself to cultivating loving actions, the people will find it hard to resist an invitation to a cell. We emphasize that these works of love are not to be used only as a hook to catch guests, but must be genuine and sincere. This effort has bared much fruit.

Evangelism and prayer.

Prayer is an essential element for evangelism. The new birth is a powerful work that only the risen Christ can make. The work of whom evangelizes is limited he can only present the message of the gospel but nothing else. Only God can make the sown seed germinate.

For these reasons, and being the evangelization key in the cell work, our leaders give great emphasis on prayer for the lost. Many gather an hour before the cell meeting to pray for their guests. In the same way, in the planning meetings, which take place once a week, an important moment is when the names of the guests are listed for the next cell meeting and a united prayer is made for those people’s conversion.

The expression that the Lord's army advances on their knees is a reality in the cell work. Only on your knees you can walk towards multiplication.

The Leader’s route under way.

Our training course for new leaders departs from the desire to make of every Christian a cell leader. Consequently, our Leader’s Route is a training program that leads new converts from their new birth to leadership.

Since every day there are new people who believe, it is necessary to start a new training course each week. This means that every week there are at least 26 different levels of the course that are being given simultaneously. One for each one of the 26 lessons that covers the entire course. To facilitate things, the training course is imparted on Sundays.

Since in our church’s building we don’t have classrooms for teaching, the course is imparted in the brethrens’ houses. The candidates don’t have to drive to church. They train in their same neighborhood.

The training is imparted by Zone Pastors. When the courses multiply Pastors also rely on Coaches who assist them in the task of training new leaders. Some of our Pastors decide to gather the groups that are on the same advanced level, with the sole purpose to give greater uniformity to the training. But, not everyone does it the same way. Although the material is unique, there is flexibility so that each Pastor can impart it in a way that it may fulfill the particularities of their zone and people.

The leader’s training course at Elim.
Our leader’s training course was for a long time of the simplest imaginable. There were only four lessons imparted in as many weeks. As the time passed, and alter realizing that cell work is a leadership strategy we started looking for a better way to train our leaders.
We reviewed the training materials of several cell churches in the world. However, the common denominator was that they turn out to be long courses and outside the context of our country. Given that fact, we decided to create our own training course.
We needed the following elements: not such a long course but not to short either
as to leave insufficient training, a simple course, without technicalities that could
discourage new believers. A course which contents could lead a person from his
conversion to leadership. In the end, our course was completed with 26 lessons to be imparted in six months.

They are designed so that each lesson is given in an hour. It starts in a very basic way, according to the understanding of a new convert and ends with technical details of the cell work.
Creating our own material allowed to overcome the difficulties I mentioned at the beginning. It’s possible that other churches may find it better to adopt a ready-made material that responds to their culture and particularities. It is a good way to start. God will tell you later on if it is necessary to create your own training course or not.

Train to evangelize.
As stated earlier, the leader is a Christian who shares his faith with a small group of friends in a house. The leader is not necessarily a preacher. When one thinks of the leader as a preacher, the cell is exposed to incur into the mini-service syndrome. Therefore, the leader should be encouraged to only present his faith revolving around the cell material that has been given to him.
From that perspective, the training to be a leader is very different than the one needed to be a preacher. A leader needs to be trained in relation to the effective way to share his faith with people who have no knowledge of the gospel.
One way to contribute to this purpose is to establish a difference between leaders’ training and preachers’ training. The leader’s formation must be maintained basic, short and uncomplicated. While preachers direct their teachings to Christians, the leader directs it to non believers. While the primary objective of the preacher is the theological formation, the leader’s is evangelization. While the preacher exercises his ministry in the church’s building, the leader exercises it in the houses. The training must be focused and limited to those areas.

New leaders’ training.
A leader is basically a Christian who shares the gospel with a group of friends at a small meeting in a house. His effectiveness is determined by his ability to present the message of the gospel through his behavior as much as through his words.
Every Christian has, because of the new birth, the potentiality to become a leader. That potentiality must be developed by the ministers of the gospel whose task is to "perfect the saints for work of the ministry”.
The training to become a leader lies in the development of skills for the work of evangelism. Training is important because it is the reason why Jesus gave to his church the ministers. Obviously, a Christian can perform a task of evangelism without having received any training. But in the cell model, the evangelizing emphasis has achieved a specialization. Years of experience are accumulating to become a lifestyle. The training aims to build that lifestyle on Christians.
Evangelism can be obtained by own initiative; but it is better to take advantage of the accumulated experience to pass it on to the new converts and to facilitate them with the path that was only opened through the efforts, failures and victories of their predecessors. Leaders’ training is a wise procedure. It is a way to pass on the Gospel’ values from one generation to the next.

Coaching the Senior Pastor.
Joel has already explained that the coaching must start with the entire cell church’s Senior Pastor. The big question is who coaches the Senior Pastor if the church’s cell structure ends up with him? Obviously, the coaching should come from someone external to the local church.
Since it is about cell work, the ones responsible for coaching the Senior Pastor must be other people who know the principles and values of the model. For his part, the Senior Pastor must be willing to give report every time on whatever he is requested.
Another way to be encouraged is by attending conferences on cell work, visiting other cell churches, reading books on the subject, nurturing your friendship with those who work or know the system. All these are elements that allow the Pastor not to feel alone on a task such as this.
You can also be coached by specialists, as it happens with most of the members of the JCG Board of Directors. This is a privilege that can only be enjoyed by a few people, but it is the most direct way to have a personalized coaching.
If you are a cell church Senior Pastor, who coaches you?

Structure and coaching values.
Human nature is always inclined to giving a greater value to the tangible aspects rather than the intangibles. That happened with the Pharisees. Jesus accused them of being very thorough in the subject of tithing but at the expense of sacrificing the great values of justice and love (Luke 11:42)
The same pattern occurs with the cell model. There is a tendency to give great importance to the tangible, the coaching structure, rather than to the great values: making disciples, caring, encouragement, mentoring.
Normally, when the subject of coaching structure is excessively emphasized, the coaching values and principles tend to be neglected. There isn’t a structure that can count on a greater support from God. God's support will be only over the coaching values.
Let us fix our attention on the development and application of those values and principles since they are, which in the long run, will produce the fruit of God's blessing. A good coaching structure is any, which allows the application of those principles. Any structure that permits that will be good and blessed by God.

The action and care as elements of coaching.
The supervision model in Elim Church is Jethro. We received the model from the example of Pastor Cho's church in South Korea. Since at the beginning we did not have a precise definition of the responsibilities of the coach, the task was concentrated on the fieldwork.
A coach was supposed to visit each week the cells under his/her responsibility while in progress. The emphasis was on the efficiency with which the work was done. The coach had to make sure that the teachings were being properly imparted, that the guests attendance was acceptable, that the cell’s agenda was followed, etc.
Although you can not deny that the coach’s work was focused on the activity and results, I have no doubt that this was a factor that imprinted great dynamism to our work.
From Joel’s teachings, I think we should make adjustments in regards to the care that the coach should have for their leaders. But this should not distract us from the emphasis on the work’s efficient execution. The key lies in having a balance. Because the other endpoint is also counterproductive: the emphasis in the care of the leaders while neglecting the work’s execution. Things will work better when both aspects find their balance.

How to be a Great Cell Group Coach.
Defining the role of a coach is something that took Elim, our church, several years. Although we have had coaches since our model began, it was thought that their main function was to ensure that every leader would reach their growth goals. Additionally, each coach would make his or her own additional rules, according to the needs in the district.
For several years I tried to find a proper formulation of the coach’s responsibilities. I read several books and manuals but could not find anything that met our needs. On one occasion one of our district pastors even suggested to eliminate the coach’s role and simply turn everyone into a leader. Then I read Joel Comiskey’s book “How to be a Great Cell Group Coach.” In that book, Joel presents seven habits of effective coaches: receive/prayer, listen, encourage, care for, develop and train, plot strategies and challenge.
When reading the book I could finally clearly understand the key role of the coach. Joel himself summarizes the work of a coach as to “serve the leader and ensure that he/she is healthy.” Joel’s book seemed to me so appropriate and practical that in our recent internal conference on church growth, I taught the seven habits to our leaders and coaches.

It was a very rewarding experience for everyone. He set the benchmarks that should guide the work of our coaches in the future. Unfortunately, the Spanish edition of the book is out of print, but I believe the English version is available. I strongly recommend reading the book. It will solve your many problems and will help you fill many gaps.

Coach’s work.
A prominent evangelist said: “It costs 10% of effort to bring a person to Christ and 90% of effort to keep him in Christ." This principle is also true with regard to leadership. It's a whole work to make a member a leader, but it is even harder to get that leader to persistently continue as such.
That is the coach’s work. Such a purpose is achieved by taking care of each leader so that he can feel stimulated, healthy and appreciated in his efforts. If the cell work is a leadership development strategy, there is no doubt that the coach’s role is found to be vital in the task.
Normally the cell churches have a leaders’ dropout percentage. This percentage may be higher or lower depending on the effectiveness of their coaches. Desertion occurs mainly when people feel manipulated to achieve goals. But, on the contrary, if people feel they are being attended as leaders, they’ll want to remain active and the goals will be achieved as a result.
The work of the coach is basically of pastoral care. What other functions do you consider to be performed by the coach?

The way to results.
When a church has completed its transition to the cell model, not only must it stand firm in its adjustment to what the New Testament presents as a church but also to the temptation to adopt dramatic changes
Usually, those changes are presented with the offer of extraordinary results in a short term. Those results emphasize the element of numerical growth above the other principles of the cell model. The problem is that when you do not get the announced results, people are discouraged. And not only with regard to the adopted novelty but to all the cell work.
Therefore, it is best to continue with patience the work of living the cell model’s values and principles, which are the ones that in the long run, will produce the fruits that pleases God. There are no shortcuts, no magic formulas or infallible recipes. There is only one way to the fruit: the persevering work. Do not allow anything to deflect you from your goal. In the end, God will bless you.

Three steps for transition and integration.
Pastor Roberto Lay, who runs an excellent instruction program on the cell model in Brazil, sums up the issue of transition and integration in a way that, up to now, I think is the most clear and practical way.
For Roberto Lay three steps should lead to integration of ministries during the transition from a traditional church to a cell church:
1 - Add. Just add the cell work to the ministries that are already operating without touching anything that is already ongoing.
2 - Adapt. Once the cell model is set, start adapting your ministries around the cell model.
3 - Suppress. Once adapted all the programs that you can to the cell model, others that you wont be able to adapt will remain. But when that happens, the life of the cells will have taken such force that the programs will no longer be so attractive. Then suppress them. No one will notice.
If those three steps are implemented wisely, they will be an excellent guide to achieve a smooth transition, so it can end with an integration adjusted to the conditions of the local congregation.

Integration: looping back 25 años después.
When talking about integration, it is usually done from the perspective of a church that is making its transition to become a cell church. This is not the case at Elim. Next year we will celebrate 25 years since making the transition to cell church ministry. For our members, the perspective is now very different. Most people that now attend Elim had their first exposure to the gospel in a cell. They accepted the invitation to attend a cell, were converted, and then eventually started attending the celebration services.
Most people at Elim first relate to the cell environment, to the leader, to the host, to the supervisor and then eventually learn about the other functions of the church via the celebration services (i.e., musicians, deacon and deaconess, children’s church, women’s fasting services, youth activities, etc.)
Their involvement begins in the cell and that leads them to other privileges in the celebration service. This means that they come to integration in a natural way. In fact, they don’t even need to think about the concept of integration. For them the integrated church is the church. This is all they ever knew.

Benefits of the cell-based church.
The main reason to make cells the base of the church is because the model of large and small meetings is the one that appears in the New Testament as a basic characteristic of the church. We have developed this subject before, and for now it is not necessary to go through it again.
In addition, there are other practical reasons that show the advantages of a cell-based church. From our own perspective, if we weren’t a church based on cells, the Elim church WOULD NOT be:
1. Elim wouldn’t be a mega church. It would be a church whose membership might reach 3,000 people or so. In fact, we hit the ceiling of 3,000 for several years, and we couldn’t break it until we became a cell church.
2. Elim would not have so many branch churches overseas. Almost all of our branch churches were not born as a result of a missionary plan but as a product of the migration of thousands of Christians trained as cell leaders. If these migrants had not been trained for the work of the ministry, once abroad they would have joined a church as a member. But their experience as leaders allowed them to become laborers of the churches that they themselves planted.
3. Elim would not have been able to properly care for its members. The church was already large before becoming a cell church (about three thousand people), but it continued with the model of only one pastor looking after that crowd. And, of course, they were not really cared for. The cell model allowed thousands to exercise the “priesthood of all believers” and enabled them to encourage, pray and exhort one another. In this way, a whole cell care structure was created which has continued to this day.
4. Elim would not had been able to accomplish its big projects, like the purchase of six radio stations and a television channel with national coverage, a piece of land of 22 acres where its future 13.000 seat auditorium will be built, etc. Those great endeavors were made possible thanks to thousands of Christians organized around cells.
5. Elim would not have the ability to evangelize and significantly penetrate the major cities of the country and abroad. The cell model has allowed 9% of the total population of the capital of San Salvador to be part of the church. It is very difficult to find anyone in the country who has not heard of the Elim church.
6. if Elim was not a cell church it would not have a quarterly average of 9,000 conversions, about 300 baptisms per month, and about 400 new leaders per year.
There would probably be other differences, but it is hard to imagine the difference between what Elim is today as a cell-based church and what Elim might have looked like as a traditional, program based church.
My prayer is that what is listed here might bless you to envision the benefits of the cell based church.

Variations in the cells’ lessons.
Using the pastor's Sunday message as grounds for the study in cells seems to me as an excellent resource. Personally, that is something I would have wanted to do in our church. But such a thing is not possible.
First of all, because we have six services in our church on Sunday and in each one of them a different message is preached. It would be extremely difficult to synthesize a single teaching of six different sermons.
Second of all, because from the moment our Leader’s Guide appeared, it was done thinking that it would serve not only for a particular church but for all the Branch Churches of our Mission.
For these reasons, a small volume containing thirteen studies for the next three months is published every quarter. Those studies follow the sequence of a New Testament’s book. For example, the Gospel of John could be studied, section by section, from beginning to end. The same teaching that is being imparted in a cell in San Salvador, is being imparted on the same date in our cells in Brussels, Madrid, Lima or San Francisco.
For his part, Pastor Cho has written several volumes of lessons for cells that follow a thematic order. These volumes represent several years of continuing teachings that at the end make the leader return to the initial point. So a leader can buy all the volumes and know that with this he will have the right material until Christ returns.
Both in the case of Elim as in the case of Korea, the Guides are written by the Senior Pastor. From that point of view, the principle of unity of teachings and of uniformity of contents is maintained. This is a variation of the leader’s Guide which does not detract the one that revolves around the Sunday sermon.

Let the Holy Spirit guide cell homogeneity.
There is no doubt that when the New Testament church met in houses, it had no major concerns about whether or not the meetings were homogeneous. For them, the meetings of Christian worship were for what they called their “oikos,” the extended family that included slaves.
It is obvious that the characteristics of their meetings corresponded to the social and economic conditions of their time. They settled on what was more natural at the time. Similarly, we should not try to force one type of homogeneity; rather we should let things happen naturally.
In our case, we began working with mixed cell and cells for women only. The leaders of the mixed cells were always men and the leader of a women’s cell was alwasy a woman. However, it was an artificial division. Over time we realized that many men preferred to go to a cell led by a woman. Now, the cells headed by women are also mixed cells.
Regarding the work with children, we have gone in the opposite direction. We began emphasizing intergenerational cells. However, it was difficult to maintain a suitable environment. Currently, we are developing children’s cells on a different time and at a different place than the adult cells. The result has been very successful. Please understand that I don’t disqualify intergenerational cells. I’m just sharing our experience.
In each case the Holy Spirit will guide the churches to what is best. And when that happens, things will occur naturally, without forcing them. They’ll run free like water finding its own way.

Daily and in every house.
Why should the church meet outside the worship building and periodically? It’s very simply, because those were the two characteristics of the churches that emerged after the resurrection of Jesus. They had no building for worship; consequently, their only option was to meet in another place that was not a building.
The Western Christian is at present so attached to his place of worship that he can not conceive the practice of his faith outside the place designated for it. But faith is something that should take in the total life of the individual. That is why the early Christians met in houses; which in the first century was the center not only of the family but also of the economic production and of social relations.
The other aspect is that the early Christians met every day. Faith for them was not a matter of weekends; or twice a week. They met each day to share their faith around the table. The gospel for them was not a marginal activity in a corner of the weekend. Faith was to them the entire life, daily life.
Not concentrating the practice of faith in a building allowed the early church to expand through out the Mediterranean world; a similar phenomenon like the one happening today with the church in China.
Not limiting to one or two days the work of the Ministry enabled the early Christians to live fully and deeply their Christian life. With this I am not saying that it is not possible to live a true Christian life beyond the weekend, but the New Testament’s church model is the one carried out daily and in every house.

Cells with a purpose.
At the beginning of our cell work there was no doubt that the main purpose was to evangelize much more people. The cells were not born as an end in itself but as means to achieve the purpose of evangelization. That passion is preserved until the present and is manifested in the fact that for every Christian who attends a cell there is an average of two invited friends.
Upon the church’s growth, the simple observation showed that the cells themselves were the appropriate environment for members to develop a sense of belonging, mutual care and fellowship. I have no doubt that the foundation of fellowship in our church occurs in the cell and not in the celebration service, where our serial services system leaves no room for sufficient time to have the halls fellowship.
The model’s development increasingly demanded people to practice the work of the Ministry. The cells showed their ability to open new spaces for many more people to join in the work; it also provided the means for the training of those new Ministers.
In that way, without having the theoretical framework, the cells in their development had defined their components: multiplication, fellowship, evangelism, training, and care for one another. It was not until several years later, while listening to Joel Comiskey, that I would understand the theology that explained and gave unity to what had been happening naturally in our country. It was no coincidence. It is God that always builds his church according to His desire.

Team meetings in Elim church’s model.
In the structure of a large cell church there are several team meetings taking place in each of the organization levels. Each of them is important because it ensures that work is carried out carefully in every instance to result in abundant fruit for the glory of the Lord.
Each week a cell core meeting takes place, in which the previous week’s cell meeting is evaluated, the next one is planned and prayer is made for the guests each one is going to bring. This meeting takes place in a house and is conducted by the cell meeting’s leader.
Also, each week, the supervision meeting takes place. This one occurs in two stages. At first the zone pastor meets with the leaders and supervisors that are under his responsibility. At this meeting the zone pastor reviews the results of the previous week in relation to the aimed growth target. Define strategies and strengthens the weak points. In the second stage, each supervisor meets with the leaders who are under his/her responsibility to apply to their sector on a particular way, what the zone pastor said in the first stage of the meeting. This meeting occurs in an adequate and large place outside the church building.
The zone pastors also meet every week with their district pastor. The district pastor does an evaluation of the work on a geographical area of the city. Depending on the location, the district pastor evaluates and plans for an amount of between 400 and 1000 cells, with their respective supervisors and zone pastors. This meeting is held at the church’s offices since everyone involved is working full time for the church.
Finally, the district pastors unify their results to get a sight of what was the church’s last week’s work. There is a meeting where the senior pastor meets with the district pastors. This meeting is more like strategic. Targets are set within a one year and five-years term. Adjustments to the model may be resolved according to the needs that arise.
This multiplicity of meetings that occur every week make possible to occur the communion and fellowship within the workplace. The hearts are tuned towards a common goal and the opportunity to encourage one another opens.

Pastoral team values.
A very important condition to form a proper pastoral team is that each of its members share the same vision. It is not possible for a team to be properly integrated if each one of its members has a different vision of where they’re heading and the methods they’ll use to get there. The vision must be established by the Senior Pastor of the church and it responds to what God has shown him for his community, city or country.
This indicates that each one of the pastoral team members recognize that they have been invited to join in as the Senior Pastor’s collaborators. If any member wants to serve as a Senior Pastor and not as a collaborator, which is completely legitimate, the best for him would be to leave his position to someone else in order to dedicate to his true calling.
In the Kingdom of God there will always be number “ones” and number “twos”. Both need each other. No number “one” will be effective trying to be a number “two”. And no number “two” will be effective trying to be a number “one”. Each one must be very aware of his call and must remain faithful to the position God has given him. The desire of every child of God should not be the protagonism for in the kingdom of God the greater is the smallest one.
To share and live these values becomes a key element to integrate a pastoral team that can attend the local cell church members.

Pastors who are passionate about the cell work.

In a complete cell structure leaders are encouraged by supervisors and supervisors by the Pastor of the church. But who encourages the churches’ pastors? Obviously, the incentive must come from external elements to the local congregation.

An excellent way to get inspiration is visiting another church that is working very well in the cellular vision. Personally, I always find new inspiration and new ideas when I visit the Full Gospel Church in Yoido, South Korea. Contemplating the living miracle which is Pastor Cho’s church is always a reason to find inner renewal. Such a visit is particularly relevant if it is made during the development of the Church Growth International Conference which is held in October in odd-numbered years. The next will be held in October 2011.

In that visit it must not be forgotten to dedicate a morning, even though the best would be a full day to go to the Mountain of Prayer. Only when visiting this place one can have a complete idea of Pastor Cho’s model.

Although Yoido’s Church represents the perfect model for cell work, there are other models closer both geographically and culturally. The main point is that visiting every so often a church that develops cell work successfully will keep passionate the heart of the Pastor.

In those visits, the Pastor may be accompanied by one or more close assistants to interchange thoughts, have two different points of view, talk to a larger number of people, to share the experience at the way back, etc. Those successful cellular models show not only that things are possible but also answer questions that arise in the daily walk.

No need to open up the full path. There are others who have walked it before so we only have to follow in their footsteps with humbleness and creativity. Then, the path will become so trafficked that whom will succeed us will find a highway of free circulation.
