LAS CÉLULAS INFANTILES

Cuando iniciamos nuestro trabajo celular la atención de los niños surgió como algo marginal: había necesidad de cuidarlos mientras los adultos asistían a la célula. Se les llevaba a otra sección de la casa anfitriona y alguien entretenía a los niños. Normalmente, la responsabilidad se delegaba a otro niño apenas un poco mayor que los demás niños y se le dejaba “a la gracia de Dios”.

Años después me puse a reflexionar que ese era un grave error de nuestro sistema. Los niños eran personas con necesidades reales y no era posible que continuáramos tan solo distrayéndolos por una hora. Sin saber que otras iglesias celulares tenían ya el modelo de células infantiles me dediqué a diseñar una forma de atención más efectiva para nuestros niños. No sabía que estaba inventando la rueda.

Al tener una base inicial convoqué a una conferencia de varias semanas de capacitación de líderes de células infantiles. Definí el perfil que deseábamos de un líder y de manera personal impartí el primer curso de capacitación.

Los componente básicos eran: tener líderes con una verdadera vocación, crear un entrenamiento específico para líderes de células infantiles, escribir una guía de lecciones específica para niños, responder a la realidad social que viven los niños salvadoreños.

De esa manera comenzamos el trabajo y sus frutos rápidamente se comenzaron  a cosechar. En la actualidad y gracias al apoyo de otros hermanos y hermanas el trabajo con los niños es notablemente diferente. De hecho, para ser un líder de célula infantil en Elim toma tres veces más tiempo de entrenamiento que ser líder de célula de adultos.

Años después, comencé a enterarme que lo que yo creía era una particularidad nuestra, era un camino ya bastante andado por otras iglesias celulares. Pero, es interesante como la necesidad de presentar el evangelio de manera responsable a los niños nos llevó a resultados bastante parecidos a los esfuerzos de otros cristianos en el planeta.

Children Cells.

When we initiated our cell work the assistance to the Children emerged as something marginal: We needed them to be taken care of while the adults attended the cell. They were taken to another area of the host house and somebody entertained the children. Usually, the responsibility was delegated to another child barely older than the rest and he was left “on His mercy”.

Years later I started to reflect on what a serious lapse that was on our system. The children were people with real needs and it was not possible to continue just amusing them for an hour. Without knowing that other cell churches already had the Children cells model, I dedicated myself to design a more effective way of attention for our children. I did not know I was inventing the wheel.

Once I had an initial foundation I convoked for a training conference of a couple of weeks for Children cells’ leaders. I defined the profile we wanted in a leader and I personally imparted the first training course.

The basic components were the following: to have leaders with a true calling, create a specific training for Children cells’ leaders, write a lessons guide specifically for Children, respond to the social reality that Salvadoran Children live.

We started the work in that manner and rapidly it started baring fruits. Today and thanks to the support of other brothers and sisters the work with Children is noticeably different. In fact, at Elim it takes three times more, in time of training, to become a Children cell’s leader than to be an adult’s cell leader.

Years later, I acknowledged that what I thought to be one of our particularities was a path through which other cell churches had been fairly passing by. But, it is interesting how the need to present the Gospel to the Children in a responsible way led us to results very alike to the efforts of other Christians in the planet.

처음 셀 사역을 시작하였을 때, 어린이 사역에는 포커스를 맞추지 못했다. 어른 셀이 함께 모일 때, 단순히 어린이들을 돌봐줄 누군가를 필요로 했다. 어린이는 그래서 누군가가 그들을 즐겁게 해주는 호스트의 또 다른 거주 공간에서 모였다. 보통, 그 책임은 다른 아이들보다 좀더 나이가 있는 아이에게 맡겼다. 기본적으로 책임 맡은 사람이 "잘 해줄 수" 있기를 바랬다. 이 훈련되지 않은  봉사자의 자비심에 아이들을 맡겨 놓았다.

몇년 후 셀 시스템에서 이 심각한 실수가 부작용으로 나타났다.어린이도 진정한 필요들을 가진 사람들임을 깨닫게 되었다. 그리고 한 시간 동안 그들과 오락을 즐기는 것만으로는 가능치 못했다. 다른 셀교회들이 어린이를 위한 셀들을 실행한다는 것을 알지도 못한 채, 어린이를 위한 보다 효과적인 셀 모델을 디자인하는 일에 헌신하였다. 나는 바퀴를 재발명하고 있음을 알지 못했다.

하나님께서 처음의 계획을 일단 주시자, 리더들을 한데 모아놓고 어린이 셀을 위한 2주 훈련 컨퍼런스를 열었다. 리더들의 자격 요건뿐만 아니라 각각의 어린이 셀그룹에서 보기를 원했던 내용들도 담아냈다. 그리고는 첫 주 훈련에서 가르쳤다.

우리는 다음의 요소들을 다루었다:

 어린이 셀 리더는 소명받아야 한다.

어린이 셀 리더는 훈련 받을 필요가 있다. 특별한 훈련 단계들을 세워 놓는다.

어린이 셀 리더는 셀 말씀 교재를 받아야 할 것이다. 우리는 어린이 셀을 위한 말씀 교재를 발간하였다. 우리나라의 사회적 현실에 맞추어서 작업하였다.

이러한 구성요소들을 가지고 어린이 사역을 시작하였다. 그리고 놀라운 열매들을 보았다. 오늘날, 형제, 자매들의 후원에 감사드리며, 어린이 사역에서는 눈에 띄는 변화를 보고 있다.

엘림교회에서, 어린이 사역은 진지하게 받아지고 있으며, 실제로, 어른 셀 리더 훈련보다 어린이 셀 리더 훈련 시간이 세 배 더 길다.

몇 년 전, 다른 셀교회들 또한 셀 시스템을 통해서 놀라운 어린이 사역들을 개발해 놓았다는 것도 알게 되었다. 하나님께서 그의 전세계 교회들을 독려하셔서 어린이의 필요들을 진지하게 받아들이게 하고, 그들을 전도하는 일에 우선순위를 두게 하셨다. 그리고 셀 구조를 통해서 그들을 제자훈련하는 분명한 단계들을 세워놓으셨다.
